Why
you should clean your roof:
1. Mosses store water and continuously pass this
moisture onto the substructure. If mosses, moulds
and lichens have collected on your roof, its protective
cover dissolves over time. If this protective cover
is permeable, water can penetrate and your roof
tiles turns into the ideal candidate for cracks
and chipping.
2. All building materials require protection from
weathering! The basic prerequisite for a lasting
roof coating is roof cleaning because the substrate
needs to be clean and capable of bearing a coating
– otherwise no paint will last.
When cleaning a roof, the original protection of
the surface is blasted off and the surface becomes
open pored. That is why a weathered roof needs a
roof coating or roof impregnation after cleaning. |
